Gary Katcher

Gary Katcher, Founder and Executive Chairman of Libertas, has built a distinguished career in financial services, with over three decades of expertise in credit, investing, and high-yield trading. His professional journey includes leadership at top-tier financial institutions as well as entrepreneurial achievements.

Before launching Libertas Funding in 2016, his finance career began at EF Hutton before he moved to Merrill Lynch, where he led the High Yield Trading desk, overseeing a $1 billion risk capital portfolio. In 1999, he transitioned to the Royal Bank of Canada as co-head of the new Leveraged Finance Group he co-established. In 2003, he founded his own fixed-income brokerage firm, which later became part of Knight Capital. After the acquisition, Gary took on the role of Executive Vice President and Global Head of Institutional Fixed Income and Global Capital Markets.

Gary Katcher holds an MBA in Finance from the NYU Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Business from the State University of New York.

A dedicated philanthropist, Gary is a committee member and former National Trustee of the Foundation Fighting Blindness, helping advance research to end degenerative eye diseases. He is also a strong advocate for women-owned businesses, working with the Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC) to launch the Accelerate Grant program, which funds grants for female entrepreneurs. Philanthropy is a core value at Libertas, where Gary continues to lead efforts that make a meaningful impact. Beyond finance, Gary is committed to philanthropy.
